Health care is one of the fastest growing and most prosperous industries in the job market today. This is largely due to the fact that few outside forces can affect the demand for health care professionals. No matter what political party is in office, what state the economy is in, or which trends are receiving the most attention, people will always get sick, become injured, or need some other service that only health care professionals can provide.

The health care field is wide and varied, allowing for students to major in the part of health care in which they are the most passionate. For example, students can choose to focus their studies on dental health, vision health, reproductive health, or even nix human patients altogether and specialize in veterinary science.

Students can also choose to major in nursing rather than becoming physicians or specialists in any particular field. Nursing occupations, both for registered and licensed practical nurses, make up the largest component of health care jobs. With a rapidly growing population, there is a shortage of nurses to tend to the increased influx of patients. This means that there is now a huge demand for nursing majors, especially in understaffed hospitals across the country.
